Olivia Anstis

Health Psychologist
MSc(Hons), PGDipHlthPsych, MNZPB

I am a Health Psychologist registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board. Health psychologists are trained specifically to help people deal with physical health challenges, and the consequences these can have on their life.

Having the opportunity to talk through the impact your health is having on your life in a safe and supportive environment is a positive first step. I have a practical and grounded approach that helps people deal with physical symptoms and emotions in the ‘here and now’.

I have seen people struggle with depression, anxiety, body image, relationships, acceptance, life changes, motivation, sleep, stress, and trauma. I have also seen many people struggle with behaviours that affect their health, particularly overeating, exercise, and adherence to treatment.  I use the following evidence-based therapeutic interventions to help you live the best life you can, in a calm and supportive environment:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Problem Solving Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I have experience working with people living with obesity, diabetes, bariatric surgery, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, pain, medical trauma, and medically unexplained symptoms. I have also worked with patients and families as they face incurable or terminal illness. Whatever you are facing physically, we can work together to help improve the quality of your life.

I work at the Avondale branch of Fillan Healthcare on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3.30pm. I can arrange other times during the week or Saturday morning subject to availability. Appointments last 50-60 minutes and cost $165 per session.
